The village of Imerovigli, situated some two kilometres north of Santorini’s main town Fira, is arguably the most spectacular and fashionable of all locations on Santorini.

Sitting on the highest spot of the Caldera rim, Imerovigli offers serenity and a supreme panorama hard to imagine and which photographs and the ubiquitous commercial advertisements shot in situ cannot really do full justice.

In medieval times, during the Venetian regime, Imerovigli was the hub of Santorini and the main settlement was situated on Skaros – the easily identifiable rock off Imerovigli. It can be reached via a narrow and nail biting path and is an obvious excursion target.

Malteza House stands on the very highest spot of Imerovigli village – Malteza Square named after the Malteza Church which is one of the most prominent landmarks on Santorini.
